Spray Booth Filters: Floor Exhaust Filters for Paint Booths

Floor exhaust filters are the spray booth filters that sit in the pit at the bottom of the booth and catch overspray on its way out. They stop paint solids reaching your ducting and exhaust fan, and they are the first thing your painters notice when airflow starts to drop.

Total Spraybooth Care stocks two exhaust media for Australian refinish booths: the USA Premium Paint Pocket polyester and the EU3 fibreglass. Both ship Australia wide, and metro orders usually land within one to three business days.

How it works

What a floor exhaust filter actually does

Air moves down through the booth, past the vehicle, and out through the floor. The exhaust filter is the last thing that air passes before the ducting. Once the media is loaded, the fan works harder, booth pressure shifts, and finishes start showing dry spray and dust. Changing on schedule keeps the airflow the booth was designed around.

Floor exhaust filters are one half of the system. The other half is the roof inlet filters in the ceiling plenum, which clean the air on the way in. Shops chasing a consistent finish run both to a schedule rather than replacing one and waiting for the other to fail.

Filter media

Paint booth filter material: polyester pocket or fibreglass

Paint booth filters split into wet media and dry media. Both filters here are dry filter media: nothing to plumb, nothing to drain, and the loaded mat goes out with the waste.

Most ordered

Paint Pocket, USA Premium polyester

Pocketed polyester over a dense backing. The pockets hold more overspray before the mat closes up, so changeouts come around less often. Our product page puts the runtime at two to four times a fibreglass mat in the same booth. It is the filter most of our customers order, by a wide margin.

Everyday refinish

EU3 fibreglass

Bonded fibreglass mat, green side facing the spray area. It is the straightforward option for everyday refinish work: predictable airflow, easy to cut to a frame or an edge strip, and around three to six weeks per roll depending on how hard the booth is running.

Fitment

Spray booth filter sizes: 600mm, 760mm and 1000mm

Measure the width of your existing exhaust frame and match the closest roll.

Paint Pocket

760mm x 22m

The most common width in modern collision repair booths, and the size most of our customers order.

Paint Pocket

600mm x 22m

Narrow exhaust pits and many older booths.

EU3

760mm x 36m

Standard width frames.

EU3

1000mm x 36m

Wider systems, or anyone who would rather have fewer joins.

If you are between sizes, or you are not sure what is sitting in the pit, call us with the frame measurement and we will tell you which roll fits.

Changeouts

How often to change spray booth exhaust filters

Paint booth filters do not fail on a fixed date, but a schedule beats waiting for a problem. For a busy metro paint shop, every two to three weeks, or roughly 100 to 150 hours of spraying. Booths running lighter loads go longer.

Three signals override the calendar. Change early when you see any of them. A loaded exhaust filter costs you in rework and in fan wear long before it costs you in filter media.

If your booth has a pressure gauge, the spray booth airflow and pressure guide shows how to time changes from the reading.

Airflow dropping off

The fan is working harder to pull air through a loaded mat.

Overspray past the filter

Paint solids are building up beyond the media, heading for the ducting.

Finishes coming back uneven

Dry spray and dust in the finish usually trace back to a tired filter.

Compatibility

Booth brands these filters fit

Both of these spray booth filters are supplied into these booths. Fitment comes down to frame width rather than badge, so measure before you order.
